RÃa de Camariñas
19th May moved to RÃa de Camariñas, again small but protected, anchored 3rd attempt in very clayey weedy bottom in the middle of the large area outside Camariñas. Several surrounding beaches but sewage into Camariñas harbour. Very picturesque. We frequented the local supermarket some three times during our stay, there was one poor girl on the till, she did well both scanning the items and packing all the bags as well, she was obviously very practised but there was no order of packing so some items were damaged. The grapes disappeared completely.
First day Elaine tidying, boys out at the beach. Nigel got some mussels to test for lunch. Then in the evening played on the beach where Dan found another little boy to run around with and play with the long strings of seaweed. We brought our tea to eat on the beach and chose a spot halfway down the short beach to eat between the flies at the top and the extremely lively sand-hoppers at the bottom.
Second day went into Camariñas to the supermarket to stock up on some essentials and to take a little look around. Nigel got a lot of mussels and we had them for tea, Dan loved them and picked out his own share!
Third day much bigger purchases at the supermarket, 41 Euros. I practised with my wheel-along shopping bag.
Fourth day arrived at the pier where an nice old man gave Daniel an origami bird and a boat, we went for a walk around the town, got an ice cream to satisfy Dan and walked up the hill, it looked like a downmarket bit of town but maybe it was normal. Found a tiny town square housing the town hall, the library, and a few other small buildings and some new prestigious small apartments. Down the hill we stopped for a beer and a coke, friendly barman but not busy and very local. Passed some more old men, they all made a fuss of Dan and one of them turned out to be our first old man, who gave Dan another bird and boat! Down to the front for a coffee in a very smart bar which got very busy with some smart people, Dan kept running outside flying his bird and being made a fuss of by several people outside. Then to the supermarket for some last supplies before departure the next day.Â
