2007 Mar - Into the Pacific!
Hi to all from Nigel, Elaine, Daniel and Lisa on “Spinalonga”!
Since our last update in May 2006, after Lisa was born, we spent the Caribbean hurricane season in Trinidad. There we made some upgrades to the boat, and brought up the baby!
Elaine took the children home to Guernsey for a few weeks in the summer.
We left Trinidad in November 2006 and made our way to Panama via Curacao in
the Dutch Antilles, and Cartagena de Indias in Colombia. We spent two
memorable weeks in the San Blas Islands of Panama, home of the Kuna Indians,
before reaching Colon, the entranceway for the Panama Canal. We transited
the Canal on 28th/29th January 2007, and so reached the Pacific Ocean!
We are leaving very soon for the Galapagos Islands, our first stepping stone
through the Pacific.
We have until November to visit the islands of the South Pacific and reach
New Zealand, when the Pacific cyclone season begins.
Daniel has now mastered reading and enjoys reading on his own, and Lisa is
now crawling!
